The Members of the All Progressives Congress party in the House of Reps will on Wednesday (today) meet with the elected President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
A message from leader of the winning party and Majority Leader of the House, Mr Femi Gbajabiamila, called the meeting a “dinner” with the President.
The message, which one of APC lawmakers showed our correspondent, read, “Honourable colleagues, once again, congratulations to all of us. There will be a dinner with Mr President for all the APC elected House members at the Villa Banquet Hall on Wednesday, 13th (of March) at 7.30pm.
“Transport has been arranged to leave the NASS Complex at 7.15pm. Please forward to all members elect. Thanks. Femi Gbajabiamila.”
Buhari met with APC governors on Tuesday.
The meeting is coming at a time when members of the National Assembly have begun struggle for the coming 9th Assembly.
According to sources, just after one week after the National Assembly membership elections were held, several lawmakers who won had begun to lobby for leadership positions.
The APC, which has retained its majority status, is said to considering how to zone the presiding and principal offices of the chambers to geopolitical zones. The ruling party was also said to be considering presenting its choice candidates in 2015 again as leaders of the National Assembly in 2019.
