Arsenal lose key player to face Manchester United

Arsenal loses a key player to face Manchester United but Jose Mourinho may not welcome the news.

After picking up a booking in the north London derby, Granit Xhaka will not be available to face Manchester United in mid-week after being suspended due to the number of cards he has collected so far this season.

While the Swiss midfielder has many critics, he has performed well for Unai Emery with the support Lucas Torreira and the superior structure put in place by the Spaniard.

During Arsene Wenger’s final years in charge at Arsenal, the former Borussia Monchengladbach playmaker endured an uneven run in the team.

His former manager gave contradictory accounts over what he wanted from the midfielder in his team as he deployed Aaron Ramsey next to Xhaka.

It was a partnership that was prone to be overrun through the middle without a true defensive midfielder to cover for the 26-year-old.

The Switzerland international has looked more comfortable with Torreira for back up and has been able to show his quality in possession at times.
