Man Exonerated From Crime he didn’t commit After Spending 17 Years In Jail

Imagine a 14 year old teenager spending 17 years in Jail locked up for a crime he did not commit?Imagine his reaction when a Judge declared him Innocent after all the wasted years!…Oh he broke down and cried like a baby!

41-year-old John Bunn from Brooklyn was only 14-years-old when he was wrongly arrested and charged with second-degree murder but he had always maintained his innocence in the case of the shooting of an off-duty correction officer Rolando Neischer and the attempted murder of his partner Robert Crosson in Crown Heights in 1991.

Bunn and another teenager named Rosean Hargrave were accused of forcing the officers out of their car before shooting them and stealing the vehicle.

Bunn spent 17 years behind bar and was released on parol in 2009. His case was re-opened in 2016 when it was revealed Louis Scarcella, the lead detective on the case, used ‘false and misleading practices’ while he was with the New York Police Department (NYPD).

Now retired, Scarcella was accused of manipulating witnesses, giving misleading testimony and coercing confessions.

From the very beginning of the trial, Bunn’s legal team said there were issues with the case as Crosson once described the suspects as being ‘light-skinned men in their 20’s’ and fingerprints found on the scene didn’t belong to the teenager.

Bunn was exonerated on the 15th of may 2018 amidst tears.
