According to our sources the French and Japanese car markers, which have been in alliance for years, are looking at becoming one corporation. If the merger went ahead, Carlos Ghosn, who is currently the chairman of Renault and Nissan, would run the new firm.

It’s far from certain that the deal will proceed. It would also need approval from the Japanese and the French governments. should they merge, however, their combined resources would create a serious competitor for auto sector leaders VW and Toyota.
