Afenifere, a pan Yoruba socio-cultural group, has called on the United Nations and President Muhammadu Bhari to commence investigation into the allegation of bias over Fulani herdsmen killings leveled against the Nigerian military by the former Minister of Defence, Lt. Gen T.Y. Danjuma rtd.
The group which made the call yesterday after a meeting in Akure the Ondo State capital, described the allegation by Danjuma as weighty.
The Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, Mr Yinka Odumakin, while briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, argued that if not thoroughly probed by the UN, such statement by the former Minister of Defense against the Nigerian military could lead to serious security britches and lack of trust among various ethnic groups in the country.
Rtd Lt. Gen Danjuma had at the convocation of the Taraba State University on Saturday, March 24, urged Nigerians to resort to self deference in the face of the unending killings across the country.
He had also accused the Nigerian military of complicity in the killings especially in Taraba State where he maintained that the killer herdsmen were being aided in killing innocent citizens.
