The Osun State House of Assembly has set up a 15-man ad hoc committee to investigate the account of the Osun State University from 2015 till date as part of steps to resolve the crisis being presently experienced in the institution.

The committee saddled with the responsibility to resolve the dispute between the management and staff of the institution comprises of joint task committees on public account and education, and the judiciary.

The decision was reached after a closed-door meeting with the schools management led by the Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof Labode Popoola, and Non Academic Staff Association, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, as well as the National Association of Academic Technologists of the Institution, over the ongoing strike by the unions.

Addressing newsmen, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Najeem Salaam, directed that the committee was to be headed by the Chairman House Caretaker Committee on Public Account, Mr Rasheed Afolabi, with the mandate to report back in two weeks time.

Hon Salaam, however, commended the unions for calling of their strike giving assurance that their requests would be adequately addressed.

The unions of the institution under the umbrella of Joint Action Committee, had embarked on indefinite strike starting from March 15 over allegations of lack of accountability, non remittance of pension funds deducted by the institution and payment of more tax than their counterparts from other tertiary institutions.
