The Edo State Government has announced that it has spent N4 billion on various water projects across the state from January 2017 to February 2018 in collaboration with the European Union (EU).
The state’s Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources, Mr Yekini Idaiye, who made the disclosure to newsmen in Benin City explained that the projects were meant to provide portable drinking water to the people.
He further stated that in addition to the water projects, which were cited in seven local government areas in the state, N1.3 billion has been budgeted for water in the state this year.
Mr Idaye said that the projects were cited in rural and urban areas adding that those in the rural communities had attained 70 per cent completion while work had commenced in the ones in the urban areas.
