The House of Representatives Committee on Information National Orientation Ethics and Values, has commenced investigation into the report of the Ad-hoc Committee on Digital Switch-over.
The Chairman of the committee, Mr Olusegun Odegbami, maintained that only the National Assembly was saddled with the responsibility of appropriating funds, hence the need to investigate the reasons for expending money without appropriation.
In his response, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Malam Modibo Kawo, said that the decision was taken based on a Presidential directive.
The committee is set to continue its investigation next week.
Meanwhile, the former chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Dr Abdulmumuni Jibril, who was suspended for 180 legislative days on the 26th of September 2016, and given the condition to apologize to the members has been recalled.
The Speaker of the House, Mr Yakubu Dogara, told members of the House, that Dr Abdulmumuni, had completed his suspension, had written a letter of apology and therefore was now free to resume plenary.
