The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Kogi State chapter has expressed displeasure over the state government’s decision to employ the services of youth corp members as doctors rather than heed to their demands to call off the strike.
In a public statement in Lokoja, the state capital, the association condemned what it described as the poor welfare of doctors working with the state government.
The, however, observed that the use of youth corps members as doctors is inimical to the health sector as they have no requisite experience to handle critical cases and work under pressure.
The association stated the readiness of the doctors to return to work whenever their demands are met.
Recall that doctors in Kogi State had embarked on strike since January this year over half salary payment and other issues concerning the welfare of its members.
