Governor Okowa Pledges to Pay Compensation on Demolished Houses for Drainage

The Delta State Governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has given the assurance that compensation will be paid to owners of buildings that will be demolished rain storm drainage project in Asaba and Okpanam.

Governor Okowa made the pledge while inspecting the spate of work at the draining site of the project along Nnebisi Road in Asaba.

The governor who observed that the number of the affected buildings were not many stated that the issue of compensation will be handled in the course of the contract.

He however appealed to residents and other road users affected by the project construction to be patient and cooperate with the contracting firms.

On the pace of work at the Nnebisi drainage site, Governor Okowa said he was impressed with the quality and extent of work done so far.

Governor Okowa also used the occasion to call on the contractor handling the direct labor road drainage to mobilize fully to the site and execute the work to specification.
