2019 Election: Why Group Supports INEC’s Schedule Timetable

The Nigeria Election Working Group (NEWG) has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has constitutional powers to organize, undertake and supervise all the elections on the date to be appointed by the commission.

In a statement signed by the convener of the NEWG, Professor Adele Jinadu, the post rescheduling of the sequence of next years general election will have grave implication on the consolidation and electoral integrity of the country.

According to NEWG, the election reorder will remove the election from a two-phase to a three-phase which will have big financial and logistical cost.

The group therefore called on the political leadership and other stake holders in the country to  take proactive measures in ensuring the electoral integrity of the country.
