Lassa Fever: NMA Calls for Political Will to Fight Infectious Diseases

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has called for political will in the fight against infectious diseases in the country.

The chairman, Lagos State chapter of the NMA, Dr Olumuyiwa Odusote, said that the current outbreak of Lassa fever was a reflection of the low level preparedness to handle infectious diseases.

Dr Odusote, therefore, urged the federal and state ministries of health to ensure speedy implementation of the National Health Act, 2014.

He also called for more investment in the existing primary healthcare facilities in the country.
