How House of Representatives Altered INEC 2019 Election Timetable

The House of Representatives has voted to change the election date as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Recall that INEC had last month released the timetable for the 2019 general election stating that the Presidential and National Assembly election come first.

However, the House of Representatives while considering the reports of the House Committee on INEC and Electoral Matters, voted against the time table and altered the order of the election.

The House voted that the National Assembly election would come first followed by the governorship and assembly elections while the Presidential election would come last.

During the session chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Mr Sulaiman Yusuf, the house also voted that INEC must also publish the seats of candidates, their parties, and party logos at least 30 days before the elections.
