Recent report from Rivers State has indicated that four individuals parading themselves as operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have been gunned down by the Federal arm of the squad (F-SARS) in Rivers State.
The four fake SARS operatives were killed on Saturday, December 16, at Ogbogoro community in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers following distress calls to the law enforcement agency from some residents of the community.
Confirming the killing, the Commander of F-SARS in the state, Mr. Akin Fakorede, said that those killed were a four-man robbery gang that disguised as SARS operatives to deceive the public while they carried out robbery activities.
He explained that the robbery gang engaged F-SARS men in a gun battle but were overpowered and subsequently killed in the process.
Commander Fakorede said –
“A four-man robbery gang with their AK-47 rifles, impersonating as SARS operatives, met their end on December 16, 2017 at Ogbogoro. The gang had gone to rob one Mr. Wey Nwinanadun.
They went to rob Nwinanadun at his residence in Ogbogoro; the gang had previously robbed in the Ada George and Iwofe area of the City.
SARS is determined to root out all criminal gangs operating in the state under whatever guise.”
