The Federal Government has directed that all National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) members be enrolled into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
The Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Sule Zakari Kazaure, made the disclosure during a working visit to Osun State.
The DG explained that the directive to give all serving NYSC members free cover by the Federal Government was burn out of the love President Muhammadu Buhari have for the scheme.
He however, used the opportunity of the visit to advice corp members to be of good behavior since it is character not necessarily their academic accomplishment that will determine their aptitude in life.
The NYSC Director in Osun State, Mr Emmanuel Attah, used the occasion of the DG’s visit to commend him for his achievements since assuming office. He also commended the Osun State Government for its concern for the welfare of corp members posted to the state.
Some corp members expressed their appreciation for the free medical insurance being provided to them and urged the government to do even more to alleviate the suffering being experienced in the country in recent times.
Highlights of the NYSC DG’s visit were the commissioning of a medical center built by a corp member in the state and the inspection of a guard of honor mounted in honor of the the DG by corp members.
