Lagos State residents especially those in Shomolu and Lagos Island East Local Government Areas have cried out over the very poor state of their roads.
The residents seized the occasion of the celebration of first 100 days in office by the elected Local Government chairmen in the state.
For Shomolu residents, the numerous potholes on the roads within the area wreck havoc on their vehicles and hamper free flow of traffic. Also some of those roads are so dilapidated that they are no longer motor-able hence residents abandon their vehicles at junctions and adjuring streets.
The situation is no better at the Lagos Island East Local Government Area where residents complained that contractors mobilized to rehabilitate the roads have abandoned the project having blocked the roads with heads of sand and gravel, and other construction equipment.
They therefore called on the Lagos State Government to compel the local governments to come to their rescue and put the roads in proper shape for them to have a feel of the dividend of democracy.
