Zimbabwean VP, Mnangagwa, to be Sworn in as President

Recent reports from Zimbabwe has indicated that Mr. Emmerson Mnangagwa, the former Zimbabwean vice president, would be sworn in as the President of the country following the resignation of the Mr. Robert Mugabe who spent 37 years in office as President.

Recall that Mr. Mugabe had sacked the Vice President last week to pave way for his wife Mrs. Grace Mugabe to succeed him in office.

The 75-year-old Mr. Mnangagwa had gone into exile following his sack by Mugabe on grounds of disloyalty and insubordination.

Mr. Mnangagwa is said to enjoy the support of the country’s war Veterans and the military chiefs.

His return to the country followed mass protests by Zimbabweans who protested across the country calling for Mugabe’s resignation and an end to his 37-year-old suffocating government.
