The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has recorded a landslide victory for a second term in office following last Saturday’s keenly contested election in the state.
Governor Obiano who was in the contest for a second term in office under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), won in all the 21 Local Government Areas of the state scoring a total of 234,071 votes to defeat the other contestants.
A distant second position went to the All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate and a serving National House of Representatives member, Dr Tony Nwoye, while the third position went to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Olisaeloka Obaze.
37 candidates from different political parties participated in the November 18 Anambra election which has been adjudged free, fair and credible with only minor incidents of malfunctioning card readers, late arrival of electoral officials and voter apathy in some parts of the state.
