DG VON and APC Chieftain Osita Okechukwu Attacked at his Hometown

The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON) and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has been reportedly attacked at his hometown, Eke, Udi local government area (LGA) of Enugu State.

Suspected political thugs were said to have carried out the attack on the VON DG during the local government re-run election in the town at Central School Eke polling center at about 1.30pm yesterday.

Mr. Okechukwu’s ipad and mobile phone were snatched from him but the quick intervention of policemen at the polling center saved him and saw to the restoration of those items.

The DG who spoke to newsmen shortly after the incident accused the opposition political party as the brain behind the attack. He claimed that his political adversaries were after him because of his insistence that democracy should be upheld at the grassroots by way of free, fair and credible election.


So far, no arrest has been made following the incident.
