The Lagos State Government has announced that it would from Monday, November 20, commence the lock-up of all the firms operating in the state that have failed to pay their tax.
Making the disclosure to newsmen yesterday, the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akinyemi Asade, decried the ugly situation where by companies including banks, refuse to pay their tax as at when due thereby depriving the state government of much needed fund for infrastructural development.
The Commissioner therefore appealed to all the defaulting firms to meet their obligation so as not to force the government into taking coercive action against them.
He therefore assured that with prompt tax payment, the state government will have funds available to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy.
