November 18 Anambra Polls: Obiano Declares Public Holiday

The Executive Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, has declared November 17, 2017, as a work-free day to enable civil servants in the state participate in the state governorship election scheduled to take place on the following day, Saturday, November 18.
Governor Obiano made the announcement while addressing the state’s civil servants during the 2017 African Public Service Day held at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat in Awka, the state capital.
He also used the opportunity to announce the payment of the workers’ leave allowance on the 15th of November, as well as clear the matters concerning the contributory pension dismissing the insinuation that his administration has mandated all workers under the state to enroll and contribute their pension by fiat.
He explained that rather than take unilateral decision, the government has set up a committee to examine the program and advice the government on the appropriate steps to take.
The Governor, therefore advised the workers to not only ensure that they voted for him but to guard their votes and make them count since a victory for him means the continuation of the many incentives his administration has provided all Anambra workers.
