The Nigerian Army has announced that its troops have intercepted and killed two horse-ridding Boko Haram terrorists fleeing their hideout during a clearance operation embarked by the troops to totally stamp out the group.
In a statement read by the Army Deputy Director, 8 Task Force Division, Monguno, Borno State, Col Timothy Antigha, the insurgents fleeing on horse were shot and killed by the troops in the course of a fierce battle at Gambo Yukku forest in Gubio, Borno State.
The statement stated as follows –
“Troops were on routine patrol in Aisaram village, Gubio Local Government Area, as part of the clearance operations, when at about 6:20 am this morning, 2 Boko Haram terrorists riding horses attempted to outflank them, but were spotted by vigilant troops and shot during the fire fight.”
According to the statement, the troops recovered an AK 47 riffle, a magazine with a single round of 7.62 millimeters ammunition and 2 machetes from the killed Boko Haram terrorists.
Recall that the Boko Haram Islamic terrorist group had intensified their attack in recent times with the Nigerian military recording a number of casualties over the past few days.
