The Ogun State police command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Ezekiel Adegbenga, for allegedly raping his neighbor’s 7-year old daughter.
Ezekiel Adegbenga allegedly committed the dastardly act at Olufunmi Ajayi Street in Iyana Ilogbo-Ota town of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, told newsmen yesterday, September 7, that the suspect who had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor was arrested following a complaint by the mother of the victim at the Sango Police Station.
The mother of the victim alleged that the suspect, who is her neighbor, lured the victim into his room under the pretense of sending her on an errand and had carnal knowledge of her while the parents were away at work.
PPRO Oyeyemi disclosed that following the complaint, the DPO of the police unit, SP Akinsola Ogunwale, detailed some detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
He added that the suspect has confessed to the crime and that the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, had directed that the suspect be transferred to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labor Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.
