Dr. Stephen Mbah yesterday, August 30, emerged as the Anambra State governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) following the primary election conducted by the party in Awka, the state capital.
According to the chairman of the party’s screening committee, Chief Humphrey Alaso, Dr. Mbah was the sole aspirant in the primary since the only other party who had declared interest, Professor Jide Jesus, did not purchase any nomination form.
In the primary which was conducted using the option A4 model and monitored by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), 252 out of a total of 253 delegates drawn from the 21 local government councils in the state voted for Dr. Stephen Mbah.
Speaking after the exercise, the Abia State chairman of the PRP, Chief Godwin Kanu, who represented the national executive of the party said that PRP would emerge victorious at the November 18 governorship poll and take over the Awka Government House.
Expressing joy over his victory at the primary, Dr Mbah thanked the delegates and appealed for their continued support to ensure that the party wins the governorship election come November 18.
He promised that if elected governor, his government would focuss on infrastructure development, security, free education at all levels, food security, free anti natal for mothers, among other things that would make life better for the people.
