Court orders Forfeiture of Property linked to Former Petroleum Minister Diezani

A federal high court sitting in Lagos has yesterday, Monday, August 28, ordered the forfeiture of bank deposits totaling N7.6 billion linked to former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The High  Court which was presided over by Justice Abdulaziz Anka ordered forfeiture of the monies in different currencies as well as $44 million worth of property allegedly acquired with what the authorities termed the proceeds of corruption.

The Economic and Fiance Crimes Crimes Commission (EFCC) said the former minister laundered the funds through some Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) officials.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Madueke has since denied all the allegations saying that the Federal Government and its so called anti-corruption agencies were out on witch hunting aimed solely to tarnish her image.
