Melaye’s Recall: Report Ready for INEC

The Special Adviser to the Kogi State Governor on political affairs, Mr. Pius Kolawole, has on Monday, June 19th, in Lokoja announced to APC party members the successful collation of votes for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye from the upper house of the National Assembly. He commended the voters saying that their action is backed by section 69 of the 1999 constitution.

The Returning Officer for the vote collation, Mr. Adamu Yusuf said that out of 360,098 voters registered in the senatorial district, 188, 588 endorsed Melaye’s recall. He disclosed that the result would be forwarded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the next line of action to be taken. The collation of vote for the recall of Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West was held on June 17th. Supporters of the embattled Senator have since distanced the recall describing the whole process as ‘comedy”.
