How FG Inherited N1.7 Trillion Debt

The Nigeria Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has disclosed that the current government inherited up to N1.7 trillion dept from the previous administration. The said amount were being owed contractors for various projects embarked by the past administration.

The Minister explained that despite the huge debt confronted at inception, the Federal Government has been able to mobilize over 500 local contractors for a number of ongoing projects across the country as a result of which estimated 17,000 direct job have been created.

Alhaji Mohammed decried the situation whereby onlh 55  individuals stole over N1 trillion from the coffers of the government in a space of a decade and half.
