The South-East Governors’ Forum has called on the security agencies to guarantee the lives and property of Igbos in the North.
The call was made by the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Ebonyi State, Chief Dave Umahi following the ‘declaration’ by some youth groups from Northern Nigeria that Igbos vacate their states or be forced out by October 1st.
Gov. Umahi said that the security agencies must live up to their responsibility of ensuring the safety of all Nigerians wherever they are in the country. He used the opportunity to warn trouble makers to desist from plunging the nation into regretable crisis.
He also used the opportunity to call on all Igbos to be mindful and go about their legitimate businesses.
Recall that the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, had on Wednesday in Enugu expressed the readiness of the South-East Governors to mobilize the evacuation of Igbos in the North but for the timely intervention of Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai in whose state the quite notice by the Northern youth groups was issued.
