13 persons including 3 suicide bombers have been confirmed dead while 24 others were injured following deadly Boko Haram attacks in Maiduguri just hours before a scheduled visit by the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo to Borno State.
The Borno State Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu told newsmen that the terrorists who came in through the Molai general area within the outskirts of Maiduguri metropolis and then shot sporadically with AA guns. They reportedly set fire on houses within the neighborhood.
The Police Commissioner explained that the police consisting of FSARS, CTU, and PMF were able to engage the terrorists before the military mobilized for a final onslaught that repelled them. However, one of the terrorists was captured during an attack at Alidawari Village near Jiddari Polo area and is currently in military detention.
Despite the attack which lasted for hours, the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has been able to embark on a scheduled visit to Borno State after assurances from the military and other law enforcement authorities that the situation has been contained.
