NUPENG to go on Strike if…

The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas ( NUPENG) Workers have vowed to go on strike if the Federal Government does not rescind its decision to sell the Port Harcourt Refining and Petrochemical Company to Oando Plc.

The President of NUPENG, Dr. Igwe Achese alleged that the government is trying to overlook a resolution by the Senate suspending the purported sale of the refinery.

Dr. Igwe Achese maintained that whatever business deal the Federal Governemtn entered into with Oando was done unilaterally without the involvement of stakeholders thereby making it unacceptable.

He wondered why such a public asset would be sold in secret and in a manner akin to an autocratic government.
