The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, has disclosed that the Federal Government plans to revive the hitherto moribund Ajokuta Steel Company. He made the disclosure yesterday at a public lecture organized on Thursday in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.
Malam Garba commended the media acknowledging the significant role the practitioners play in national development.
Recall that Ajaokuta Steel Company established by the Federal Government over 38 years ago to serve as the industrial hub of the nation has remained moribund since inception.
Experts have recently come up with an estimate of about $1.21bn as the amount required to bring the steel complex into production. The said amount is far from the $400m needed to complete the steel complex 17 years ago when an audit was carried out on the company.
