The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi on a mid-term scorecard of the APC government said the success of the party in the 2015 polls gave meaning to democracy in Nigeria. He stated that the single exercise of an opposition party taking over from an incumbent through the ballot box shows that the people’s votes count and that they have the capacity to bring about change in issues that concern them.
Mallam Abdullahi maintained that although democracy allows people say what they want, politics is very contentious as there are bound to be conflicts of interest in terms of allocation of value and resources where everybody will feel a sense of belonging.
Mallam Abdullahi is a former Minister of Sports under former President Goodluck Jonathan’s lead PDP administration. He jumped ship to APC when PDP lost power to the former.
