University of Ibadan shut down

The university of Ibadan has been shut down following protest by the student of the institution who yesterday took to the streets with placards and chanting solidarity songs to express their grievances with the school management.

According to the President of the University of Ibadan Students Union, Ojo Aderemi the non provision of students ID card and kitchenette for students as well as the absence of students welfare board are among the issues the students are contending with the authority.

Mr Ojo stated that they have taken their case to the school authority without any redress. He added that, for instance, some students rusticated while agitating for students welfare has not been reinstated as agreed with authorities.

On its part, the school authority through its spokesperson said that it has been meeting with the student to resolve the crisis. Meanwhile law enforcement gents have been positioned at critical locations within and around the institution to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
