TODAY in Nigerian history (Re: May 25, 1962)

It is amazing how time flies!
It is now 55 years today when on May, 1962, after the leader of the Action Group (AG), Chief Obafemi Awolowo accused his deputy, Samuel Ladoke Akintola, the Premier of Western Nigeria, of trying to supplant him as Leader of the party crisis erupted on the floor of the Western House of Assembly. The party had passed a vote of no confidence on Akintola and then tried to remove him as the Premier of the region.
Lawmakers were seen scampering for safety as law enforcement officers tried to bring the chaotic situation at the floor of the house under control.
Yes, time flies but memories linger on.
