Dr Ifanyi Ubah’s release: Court gives DSS 48 hrs ultimatum

Latest information on the recent detention of a foremost industrialist and oil magnet, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, has indicated that the Judge of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, Justice Mohammed has given the Department of State Service, DSS, a 48-hour ultimatum to release him or face the contempt of court.

Justice Mohammed in his ruling ordered the DSS to release Dr. Ubah since it has failed to file a charge against him.

Dr. Ubah who is the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited was arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS, earlier this month for alleged theft of petrol kept in his tank farm in Lagos by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC valued at over N11 billion. He is also accused by the agency of  economic sabotage which include inciting members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), a critical player in the downstream sub-sector of the Petroleum Industry, to lay down tools.

However, it seem that the DSS’s case does not hold much water as Justice Mohammed has ordered his release from detention.
