70 months pension arrears: Benue retirees keep vigil at Gov. House gate

In a desperate move to draw the attention of the state government, in fact, the state governor, Samuel Ortom, to take action on the over 70 months pension arrears owed them, Benue State pensioners have kept an all night vigil at the gate of the government house in Markurdi, the state capital.
The very angry local government pensioners led by Mike Vambe, Chairman, Coalition of Local Government Pensioners, had on Tuesday gathered at the entrance of the Benue Government House wielding placards with inscriptions on their anger and predicament and singing solidarity songs. They insisting on seeing Governor Ortom.
Governor Ortom addressed the aggrieved pensioners after listening to their complaints saying that their welfare was of utmost importance to his government. He promised to do everything possible to clear the arrears.
