A Nigerian pastor, Oluwadayomisi Epenusi was gunned down by an unknown assailant near an apartment complex in Indianapolis, Indiana, over the weekend.
The pastor who was 66 was said to have just moved to the States from Nigeria and was working to bring the rest of his family over to the US.
According to a co-resident who shared a room with the victim at the apartment complex, Moshood Kafaru, Pastor Epenusi was an easy going man who minded his business and never looked for anybody’s trouble. He expressed shock that such an ugly fate should befall an easygoing and harmless man of God.
Kafara said that the late Pastor Opeyemi ran into the apartment after he was shot outside and he had to rush him to the hospital. He said that he couldn’t get any information from the pastor who was in terrible pain as to who shot him and why he was shot. The pastor died on the way to the hospital.
Resident of the apartment complex most of whom are Nigerians have expressed concern over the security of lives in the area. They are particularly saddened that the life of a loving father and husband who was working and sending money back home for the upkeep of his family in Nigeria has been cut short.
Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Police have issued a statement asking for information that will assist them apprehend the perpetrator of the dastardly act.
